About
A former high school teacher, a room above a bookstore in Sellwood, and a simple idea: catch the gap early.

Our story
Why Riverbend exists
Kevin Park taught high school for years before opening Riverbend in 2017. What he saw again and again was the same student: quiet in class, falling behind in one subject, and waiting months for anyone to notice.
So he built the opposite. A tutor who stays the same week after week, and a short written note sent home so parents are not guessing. The centre sits above the shops on 13th Avenue in Sellwood.
Riverbend now works with students from grade 1 to grade 12 in math, reading, writing and study skills, alongside SAT and ACT prep. The goal is not a burst of sessions before a test, but steady weekly practice that shows up in class first, then in grades.
The same face
Students keep one tutor across the term, so trust builds and small changes get noticed early.
Written notes
Parents get a short note explaining the hour, so nothing stays hidden between school reports.
Measured progress
Every eight weeks we look back at where your child started, so you can judge whether the sessions are working.

Tell us where your child is stuck
Some students slip in math, others in reading, and the weekly hour is where it gets caught.
